When perfumer Alix Miral created Vow’s first fragrance, Vow 2006, she did not need to look far for inspiration; she was planning her own wedding at the time. The result was an extraordinary success, adored by brides and the media alike. Brides Magazine named Vow as one of the top 100 bridal products of 2006.
Vow spoke with Alix about following up with Vow 2007:
Where did you find the inspiration for this Vow 2007?
Last year I was invited to an amazing wedding in Cornwall (UK). Instead of carrying a bouquet, the bride had Pink Tiger Lilies hand painted onto her silk dress, and the altar was lined with these flowers. That was the original inspiration.
Tell us more about the fragrance
I started imagining a sensual and intoxicating floral bouquet with pink Tiger Lily as the centerpiece. I wrapped it with notes of Champagne rose petals, lotus flower, solar orchid, jasmine and orange blossoms. The vibrant citrus notes like Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian lemon and Florida grapefruit bring sparkle and emotion to the top. In the background I translated the texture of silk so you could almost “touch” the wedding dress. East Indian sandalwood, sheer musks, amber, vanilla and tonka beans are the soft and sensual notes that make you feel the “first” kiss the bride and the groom exchange at the ceremony.

How would you compare this year’s and last year’s fragrance?
With Vow 2007 I imagined texture and color and wanted more sensuality. Citrus top notes, orange blossoms, classical floral notes like rose and jasmine are common elements between the two fragrances. Instead of freesias in last year’s fragrance, in Vow 2007 I imagined pink Tiger Lily, lotus and orchid blossoms that bring more sensuality to the floral bouquet. As a perfumer I was delighted with the amazing challenge of expressing textures and colors through scent.
